The dream begins, most of the time, with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you on to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called truth.
Fall is here and it's one of our favorite seasons. There is so much to look forward to this month: Putting for Palmetto Place, the State Fair, and Halloween.
The kids are back in school, fall is in the air, we have a new needs list! Thank you to everyone who has donated from our monthly needs lists so far this year. Your support and donations have helped so many kids and teens feel safe and loved in our home. As the year comes to a close as the holiday season approaches we know you get busy. Volunteer this Fall!
There are lots of ways you can volunteer at Palmetto Place this fall. Check out these opportunities:
During the month of September Palmetto Place will collect adult sized, age appropriate costumes for our teens. If you have a gently used costume you'd like to donate to the shelter email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a pick up or drop off.
We'll also be taking names of individuals and groups who want to act as a sponsors for any kids who don't have a costume come October 15th. If you're interested in helping make sure each kid is provided a costume simply respond to this need or email us!
Summer is over and fall is blowing in, literally! We're looking for two groups to come and freshen up the yard at each of our houses. We expect this will take groups of five between 2-3 hours. Tasks include pulling weeds from garden bed and shrubs, mowing the lawn, blowing/raking leaves, weed eating, timing the shrubs and more. If your group is interested let us know!
This year we are looking for special sponsors who would like to purchase fair food and wristbands. Most days of the year we keep our kids on a healthy diet, but the fair is something special. We're also looking for a sponsor to purchase ride tickets or wrist bands! The fair is not the same unless you can ride in the Ferris Wheel and walk through a spooky house.
Sponsoring one child's wristband is $35. Sponsoring a wristband and meal for one child is $50. There are more than 40 children at Palmetto Place who need sponsors!
Save the Dates: Our annual Putting Party and Golf Tournament are coming up! Join us on Thursday, Oct. 19th from 6-9 at City Market Vista for our Putting Party and Monday, Oct. 23rd at noon for our Golf Tournament.
We're looking for at least 15 volunteers to help with the Harley Owner's Group annual Poker Run for Palmetto Place!
