This summer has been full of fun adventures, new experiences, and lazy summer days but they're quickly coming to an end. Next week our college students will start moving into their dorm rooms and our other students have less than a month of summer left.
Did you know that school teachers are the number one reporter of child abuse and neglect or that the majority of homeless teens find shelter at Palmetto Place with the help of their school counselors? Each fall as the kids go back to school our phone begins to ring more often and on the other end of the line is a kid or teen looking for a safe place to call home.
This year we're not only getting ready to send our current kids back to school with everything they'll need for a successful year, but also collecting supplies for our house to prepare for the kids who will need us most.
Your church, office, group or organization can help make sure some of the state's most vulnerable children and teens will have everything they need by collecting items from our wish lists. Here you will find a complete list of school supplies we're collecting and here you will find a list of items we are stocking up on so we're ready for more kids. You can also mail monetary donations to P.O. Box 3395, Columbia, SC 29230 or make a donation here.
Don't forget Tax Free Weekend is a great way to pick up supplies at a discount. This year Tax Free Weekend is August 4th - 6th.
To schedule a donation pick up call 803-786-6819 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Need some inspiration? Give us a call and we'd love to talk about different ways and ideas to get groups involved at the shelter. Thanks so much for your support!
