Today is a day to believe in miracles. A young new resident was seeming a little shy and very homesick, and we thought a new stuffed animal to cuddle might be just the trick. "What kinds of animals do you like?" we asked. "Monkeys!" she said. "No" to dogs, cats, bears, snakes. "Monkeys and people," she said.

Walked into the storage to look for a potential friend, feeling a little nervous, since we've never seen a monkey in the mix. First box opened, there he was, right on top, right in the center, like he'd been waiting on her all along.

Within 30 minutes she had shared a coloring book page with a resident her age, and was smiling as she lay down for a nap. She's going to do just fine here at Palmetto Place.
