Reposted from Bobby Brooks at Exit Realty... This past Christmas season, EXIT Midlands Realty took on helping Palmetto Place Children's Shelter with their Christmas needs. Palmetto Place is an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children that not only helps DSS with temporary housing, but also takes in homeless children when beds are available.  Knowing that the children had already been taken care of for Christmas, we took on the challenge of stocking the supplies needed to keep the shelter going. I sent an email to the director of PPCS and was immediately responded to with a list of items they could use. While going through the list, one item stuck out. They needed the cabinets in the kitchen replaced. Thank goodness for my friends at Capital Kitchens and Baths and Lake Murray Floor Covering. One call to Gerald Meetze, owner of Capital Kitchens and Baths and another one to Bill Greene, owner of Lake Murray Floor Covering and the process was in motion. Now fast forward to new week. Beginning on Monday, Feb. 3rd, demolition will begin to remove the current cabinets and by Friday we should have a completed remodel of the kitchen including new cabinets and flooring. The excitement is in the air around Palmetto Place. The things that most of us take for granted and overlook are the same things that others would give the world to have. The simple act of paying it forward and helping others is a gift in itself to me. I will be posting pictures of the new kitchen next week after the makeover.
